The Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust has a Local Stakeholder Board (LSB), for the Okehampton College.
Secondary Local Stakeholder Boards (LSBs) are Committees of the Board of Trustees. They have no delegated decision-making powers and do not have the legal responsibilities of Trustees.
LSBs have an important role ensuring that individual schools understand the local community context that they are operating in, as well as providing a mechanism for the local community to support their school.
The LSB for each school meets 4 times a year and the LSB Chairs meet with the Secondary Stakeholder Board 3 times a year.
Governors serving on LSBs are the public face of governance across the Trust. They have a significant role in engaging with parents and communities and being the conduit between academies and the Trustee Board.
The Local Stakeholder Board is responsible for the link between the Trust and the parents and the community, feeding into the Trust’s oversight and management of the school.
Governors support and challenge; one question is worth more than six opinions. Their strength is the diversity of their backgrounds and combination of skills they bring to the Board.
