Members are guardians of the governance of our Trust.
They hold our trust board to account for the effective governance of the trust but have a minimal role in the actual running of the trust. Members are essential to the integrity of the academy trust governance structure. They ensure strong and effective governance and hold the board to account in upholding the charitable purpose of our organisation. Members therefore remain informed of trust performance and are clear on how to appropriately interact with the trustee board.
Members have no day-to-day or week-to-week role in running the Trust, but a key responsibility is the appointment/ removal of trustees and consideration of the Trustees’ performance in carrying out their three core governance functions.
All members are required to have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, a section 128 direction check and a right to work/identity check.

Corinne completed a PGCE in Secondary Geography in 2004 and has worked in the field of education ever since. After 10 years as a Careers and Employment Adviser for young people and adults, she joined the Graduate School of Education at the University of Exeter in the ITE Partnership team. As Partnership Director, she manages relationships between GSE and schools, building partnerships to ensure the successful delivery and development of the PGCE course. Corinne has a particular interest in social mobility and supporting areas of deprivation.
After serving as an officer in the Royal Marines for seven years Mike joined the NHS and became a Director and then CEO of hospitals in Devon, Somerset and Oxford and then a Non-executive director in Plymouth. After the NHS he became a Senior Research Fellow at Exeter University where he focused on patient safety and lectured on leadership. Mike was ordained as a Priest in the Anglican Church in 1993 and has exercised a self-supporting ministry in the Dioceses of Exeter and Oxford. He was most recently the Canon Treasurer of Exeter Cathedral until 2021 and is currently the Vice Chair of the Exeter Diocesan Board of Finance. He holds a number of charity trustee positions and has been a school governor in Oxfordshire and in Devon and joined the First Federation Multi Academy Trust as a Trustee in 2022.
Jane was previously a Trustee and is excited to be part of the Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust working to support all pupils in reaching their full potential. She is a Chartered Accountant, has an MBA from the London Business School and has spent most of her career working in the financial services industry as a corporate financier, investment manager and latterly as Finance Director of a number of AIM quoted companies.
For three years Jane worked at Ardingly College as Development Director raising money to support the school bursary program and capital projects including the building of a sports pavilion. Jane was part of the senior management team who successfully achieved an outstanding inspection report.
Jane moved down to the South West four years ago to take on the role of CEO at Folk2Folk and has since made Tavistock her home. Jane works as an executive coach, and holds four Non-Executive Directorships, including two locally with Exeter Science Park and South West Mutual, with a focus on governance, strategy and finance.
John has wide experience of governance in education having been a primary school governor for many years both in Solihull and latterly in Devon. This has included being both Chair of the board and Chair of Finance and he has also been a Trustee of Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust.
In his day job, before retirement, he was a senior member of general management within the logistics and aerospace industries. Besides having a number of line management roles involving multi-disciplinary teams, he was the lead on a number of change and reorganisation projects.
John strongly believes that by formally collaborating we can ensure the best educational outcomes for our children and the best career prospects for our staff.
