Creully

16 May 2023 |

What an afternoon we have had! After a picnic in the grounds of the beautiful chateau in Creully, we walked through the picturesque town to our partner school. Here we were warmly welcomed into the playground by the French children – they made two lines to form an aisle at the gate and  huge smiles and greetings in English and French exchanged.
In small groups, our children joined the classes where they participate in some wonderful activities the teachers had prepared, all of which enabled the children to experiment with their French and English on both sides.
While some groups remained to try some French food tasting, others walked back to the town.

In the town, children used their spending money to buy an ice cream, again using their French to select the flavours of ice cream or sorbet!
A visit to the Church of St Martin enabled the children to make comparisons with their observations of Bayeux Cathedral yesterday.
Back to the chateau at Creully, we began some initial sketches of the magnificent building in readiness for a watercolour workshop later.
One last visit today, to make the most of the sunshine and this amazing part of Normandy… more to come later.
