Partner schools

One of the aims of our Turing project was to make more connections with French schools. Our children have been writing to four different schools in Normandy. We have chosen to try to build relationships with schools in Normandy due to the twinning between Normandy and Devon.

Yesterday we met one of our partner schools at Bayeux cathedral. The children were able to meet and get to know each other and practice their French.
This morning we visited the British Normandy Memorial with another class from Normandy.
We have spent the afternoon at Cecil Newton Primary School in Creully where we were able to visit all classrooms, do some art and sport together. Then the children performed three short plays of the Gingerbread Man, Jack and the Beanstalk and Little Red Riding hood.
We ended the day by sharing some local delicacies such as apple cake and rice pudding.
Our children have benefited greatly from this opportunity. They have learnt how enjoyable and rewarding it is to communicate with others, even when you don’t share the same language. We have left with new friends and fond memories.
