Our visits for the week drew to a close at the British cemetery in Bayeux. We made our way to the memorial, in respectful silence, past row on row of immaculate gravestones and beautifully maintained grounds. Here we reflected on our learning during the week and as our second wreath was laid, we used the words of remembrance, lest we forget:
“They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn,
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We shall remember them.”
These children of Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust have filled us with pride. Their conduct just now at the cemetery was immaculate, modelled by the exemplary behaviour of our Transition Leaders. The veterans and members of the visiting public, cannot fail to have been impressed. Wow, what an end to our visits!!
