Katie Mora-Ogle

Former secondary school direct trainee

Now MFL teacher at Tavistock College

‘The School Direct model allows you more time to see and absorb the daily life of a teacher from the outset. It helps you to build relationships with students and staff, developing more confidence in the trainee when starting teaching. From the beginning you can see the university theory in practice as you are learning it. You realise early on that a career in teaching is not just about teaching your specialist subject but also about imparting co-operative values shaping and preparing students for the next stages in their lives.’

Joe Skinner

Former primary school direct trainee

Now teacher at Okehampton Primary

‘Training via School Direct was a fantastic way to start my teaching career. Being able to work directly with the children and alongside supportive, experienced teachers was invaluable and allowed me to put my pedagogy into practice and develop my skills with confidence and purpose.’
